Families who are participating in a publicly funded homeschool enrichment program that requires homeschool students to submit a Notice of Intent must file an NOI.

Families enrolled with FACE who are not participating in a public homeschool enrichment program do not need to file an NOI.

Students enrolled with FACE are enrolled in a licensed Colorado private school and are not required to file a Notice of Intent unless they choose to participate in a public homeschool enrichment program.

Yes.

According to guidance from the Colorado Board of Education, families may participate in a public homeschool enrichment program while also remaining enrolled with FACE.

If you choose this option, you may continue using FACE for:

  • Attendance records

  • Report cards

  • Transcripts

  • Diplomas

  • Record storage

  • Classes and field trips

  • Graduation services

  • Parent support and guidance

However, participation in a public homeschool enrichment program now requires filing a Notice of Intent and complying with Colorado homeschool requirements.

This includes completing a nationally standardized test or professional evaluation at the end of:

  • 3rd Grade
  • 5th Grade
  • 7th Grade
  • 9th Grade
  • 11th Grade

You may continue using the FACE portal to maintain attendance, report cards, transcripts, diplomas, and other records as normal.

According to Colorado law:

"The parent in charge and in control of a nonpublic home-based educational program shall certify, in writing, only a statement containing the name, age, place of residence, and number of hours of attendance of each child enrolled in said program."

(C.R.S. § 22-33-104.5)

Enrolled families may create and store their notice of intent using the NOI template in the Parent Portal.

A Notice of Intent may be submitted to any school district in Colorado.

If your student is participating in a public enrichment program, you may wish to submit the NOI to the district operating that program.

A list of district contacts will be available soon.

According to the Colorado Board of Education:

"A parent can still submit the notice to any district. However, if they submitted it to District A, they will need to provide a copy upon enrollment to District B in order to enroll in District B's part-time program for homeschool students."

Be sure to keep a copy of any NOI you submit.  You are welcome to store this document in your FACE google drive folder.  If you use our NOI tool to create your NOI, you will be able to access and edit this document as needed.

A NOI must be filed annually.

If you notify FACE that your student is participating in a public homeschool enrichment program, we will send a reminder in late July each year.

Yes.  Send an email to Office@Faceschool.org and we’ll assist you with this process.

No.

Only the student(s) participating in the public homeschool enrichment program need to be listed on the NOI.

Any other students may remain enrolled under private school regualtions (including all private enrolled benefits) with FACE and continue operating under their FACE enrollment as usual.
