Hello! My name is Laura Griffy and I have been homeschooling my two girls, now 14 and 12 since they were in kindergarten. When I’m not homeschooling my girls I am the director of our children’s ministry at church, volunteer with my oldest at Westernaires and am mom shuttle taking them to their evening sports.
Fun fact; my husband and I have gone to school together since junior high! We moved to Colorado 5 years ago from Arizona and absolutely love this beautiful state.

Brenda has been a FACE mom for many years, graduating both her children from FACE. She enjoys serving our community still with delicious hot lunches, coffee, and treats throughout the day!

Becca Lutjen
Student Council Advisor
Teacher
I’m currently a full-time homeschooling mama, but am also proud to be a serial entrepreneur and small business owner, hairdresser, former dance instructor, and former X-ray/CT technologist. As you can probably tell, when I have an interest in something, I go all in and have to satisfy my craving for that knowledge. My main goal when learning (and/or educating others) is to ensure it is fun and rewarding. I love all forms of art and science (what my degree is in), and I'm looking forward to incorporating both of those into my classes. Our family began our homeschooling journey in 2017 in Texas where I taught various classes at our co-op. 5 years and 2 states later, we found ourselves at FACE and have enjoyed it so much I decided to teach here as well!

Christine was on staff for 8 years as an Assistant Director of Family Ministry in a church. She owned Sylvan Learning for 5 years until she semi-retired. Christine continues to be involved teaching children in her church as a STEM Community Time teacher. During vacation bible school she is the voice of the puppet and preschool storyteller.

Beth House
Teacher
I absolutely love homeschooling! It's not something I ever envisioned for myself, but it really fits our family. I have 3 kids K-5. We mostly unschool and I love using games for introducing new concepts, practicing established skills, and learning social skills. Reading was my first love and one of my greatest joys is sharing my enthusiasm for literature with my students.

Scott Pedersen
Teacher
I started my own journey in the martial arts during elementary school, with the study of Judo. Since those beginning days, training has taken me as far away as Japan. I have accumulated over 30 years of experience in several different martial arts styles. Among many martial arts ranks, I hold a 6th Degree Black Belt in Tracy Kenpo Karate and a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Force Necessary.
In 1999 I became a full time school operator, living and breathing the martial arts around 60 hours each week. I’ve worked with and helped a very wide spectrum of people (from professional athlete competitors to people with disabilities and students ranging in ages from three years old to people over eighty-five). I love to teach and strive, always, to deliver quality instruction and depth of material in an understandable way.

Melissa Blocker

Afterwards I taught (and took for myself )private voice lessons and continued singing in church choirs and other solo opportunities. I also took a job after college working with infants through 6 year olds in day care centers for 10+ years as a lead teacher. Taking many hours of training in early childhood education. ( including first aid, cpr, ect). This is my second year teaching with faceschool! In my personal life I am a mother of four kids all of whom I homeschool. I’m looking forward to teaching your children this year!

Stephanie O'Grady

I have a passion for learning and teaching. I have taught many different ages and really enjoy middle and high schoolers. My teaching approach is interactive and heavy on student discussions, not lecture based. I do expect students to come to class prepared each week so that discussions will be fruitful and productive

MaryAnn Cortez
Teacher
I am a mom and grandmother. I spent many years providing day care as my kids were growing up. Later I worked in a bookstore as the storytime lady. I have also authored 3 books and write for children. I have loved sewing since grade school and made all my daughters prom and wedding dresses. I still love to sew but mostly make quilts these days. I am looking forward to sharing my sewing skills and working with young people again.

Mara Gellerstedt
Online Tutor
Hi! My name is Mara. I'm a former FACE student who graduated high school in 2016. Since high school I went on to get an associates degree in communication from Front Range Community College. I now have a job doing social media marketing, graphic design, and administrative work for a small pickle business. In addition, I have my own small craft business called Mara's Sola Flowers selling sola wood floral arrangements on Etsy, on Makerplace, through Facebook, and at farmers markets/craft fairs. My main job, however, is reading tutoring. I was inspired to pursue tutoring because I enjoy connecting with and teaching students one on one. I chose reading tutoring specifically because I have a younger brother with dyslexia. So, I have a personal connection with it. Over a year ago I started volunteer tutoring with the Barton Reading and Spelling Program through a local place called Refuge Reads. Since then I started my own online tutoring business, and currently have two students. I enjoy getting to know each of the students I tutor.
