Teach for FACE

Thank you for considering teaching for FACE.  We'd love to meet with you and hear all about what classes you'd like to offer to our families!    Here are answers to the most common questions we get from new teachers.

How does teaching for FACE work? Are you hiring full time?
  • FACE Teachers are independent contractors.  We do not hire anyone.  We contract by class that you teach.
  • We do not dictate class requirements, supply fees, minimum or maximum enrollments, class fees, provide curriculum, or provide supplies.
  • Teachers may charge a supply fee to cover the costs of supplies needed to teach a class.
  • For each class, students may be required to bring supplies or a textbook.  You list that info on the class form.
  • Teachers do not have to hold any particular accrediation.  Some have degrees, training in an area, a business they own and can use for a class, special interests, or particular hobbies they want to share.
  • Teachers do need to have a background check for safety purposes and attend open house, a training meeting, & all classes they're contracted to teach.
  • If you are unable to teach you are responsible for contracting a sub.  Sub lists will be provided but you are responsible for contracting one to take your place and informing FACE that they're responsible for the class that day.  You are responsible for supplying the sub with a lesson plan and any needed materials for that clas
  • You are welcome to set your class fee as you see fit but we always get asked "how much".  Currently, teachers list their classes anywhere from $10 - $35 per student, per month (4 classes).  The fee you set should reflect the work you are putting into the class outside of class time.  A class that requires little prep or expertise will be less than a class that requires 3-6 hours of prep/grading work, requires a high degree of technical skill on your part, or meets more than once during a week.
How are classes taught?

Teachers offer classes either online, at our in person Westminster campus, or as a hybrid of those two options.  Online classes are conducted primarily using Google Classroom.  Certain teachers who use specialized software have been granted the right to host classes in those systems instead (ASL, Barton tutoring, etc where a specialized interface is needed)

FACE provides teachers access to FACE email, Google classroom, G-Suite office software, and Canva Ed to assist with the online aspects of a class.  In person classes can use Google classroom for homework or for parent communication.

What other questions can we answer?

We know we are a non-standard educational institution and you might have questions about the program.  Please email us at Info@faceschool.org with questions or to request a phone call!
